Juicy Lucy Controversy


After opening The Grind in 2009 we used the caricature you see above as a chief component in our marketing campaign.  We placed an ad in The Rebel Yell (the UNLV student newspaper) that contained a very small version of this image on the bottom of the ad below a giant picture of a burger.  An outraged reader wrote an op-ed into the paper which sparked an enormous amount of controversy (documented below).  I hope everyone knows that we don't intend to be offensive in any way by using this caricature.  I am sorry if some people are offended but we only created this as a gimmick and hoped it would draw people in to try our food.  I think it works and still does.  In this town there are worse things in more visible places and I think some people need to lighten up a bit.
